Scholarship

In 1953, tragedy struck the Bufton family. After an extended illness, Hilary and Ruth Bufton's five-year-old son, Stephen, passed away. An ABWA memorial fund was created in his name, designed to further educational opportunities for members. The Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund grew rapidly, soon becoming one of the Association's most prominent and far-reaching programs, and still thriving today.

The Chapter Special Scholarship Program:

Katy Charter Chapter will award scholarships as funds are available, the first being the Nita Gooch Memorial Scholarship and the second being the Debbie Harger Memorial Scholarship. Additional scholarships may be award if funds permit.

Membership Educational Reimbursement Fund (MERF):

The purpose of MERF funds is for career and personal enhancement for members. The funds must be used for career-related seminars, a class at a local college, or if a change in career is being considered, a workshop or seminar to this end. Funding of acceptable applications is on a first-come, first-funded basis, as funds allow. The maximum amount shall not exceed $250, per year.
